Dr. T. BHASKARAN, (20 Aug 1929 - 12 Aug 2010) was born in an agricultural family in Irinjalakkuda, Thrissur district, Kerala, India. His father Theyyan was an agriculturalist and Mother Ittaya was a homemaker.

He had his early schooling in National school and Sanskrit school at Irinjalakkuda. Joined Maharaja’s college Ernakulam for intermediate and then for post graduation. He was the first rank holder for both Sanskrit and Malayalam M.A degree examinations in Language and Literature of University of Kerala. He was awarded the degree of Ph.D, for his thesis “Malayalam Poetics with special reference to Krishnagadha” in 1972 by University of Kerala.

He started his career as a tutor in Sree Narayana College, Kollam, Kerala. He has worked in Victoria College, Plakkad, Maharaja’s college, Ernakulam, Malayalam Lexicon, Thiruvananthapuram, University College, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala University, Thiruvananthapuram. He retired as Director of Orient Research institute and Manuscripts library, University of Kerala in the year 1989. He has also served as Hon. Director of Sree Narayana Study center, Senate Member of Kerala University, Syndicate member of Sree Sankara University for Sanskrit, Kalady.

He was a well known Sanskrit scholar and had in-depth knowledge in Malayalam literature. His early interest was in poetics but was later on attracted to Sree Narayana Guru. Until the last breath, he was a student of contributions of Sree Narayana Guru and was an authority in this domain.

Many recognitions and awards came his way including: M.K.Raghavan memorial award, Olappamanna Deviprasadam award, P.K.Parameswaran Nair foundation memorial award, T.R Raghavan Trust award, Sahodaran Ayyappan memorial award, K.T. Achuthan award, Sree Narayana Samskarika Samithi award, Kodungalloor Sree Narayana Darsana Samithi award, Varkkala Sree Narayana Gurukulam award, P.R.Sasthri – Sree Narayana Samrakshana Samithi award, Prof. C L Antony Memorial award.

He is the author and editor of many books. Noted among these are Sree Narayana Guruvinte Sampoorna Krithikal, Brahmarshi Sree Narayana Guru, Sree Narayana Darsanam, Sree Narayana Guru Vaikhari, Ariyappedaatha Asan, Malayalam Poetics, Bharathiya Kavya Shasthram, Asante Asan, Krishnagadha Padanangal etc.The book Brahmarshi Sree Narayana Guru is currently being translated and published in 23 Indian languages by the Kendra Sahitya Academy.
